The Carnton Plantation in central Tennessee, home of the McGavock family, was forever changed by the tragic events of November 30, 1864. The monumental Battle of Franklin was fought in twilight and darkness for five horrific hours. The once-proud Confederate Army of Tennessee was wrecked in what is sometimes called �The Pickett�s Charge of the West.�
Join us when acclaimed Carnton Plantation scholar Eric Jacobson discusses this deadly and dramatic moment in Civil War history.A book signing for The McGavock Confederate Cemetery will follow the presentation.
The Civil War Round Table of Chicago is a long-established non-profit membership organization that meets monthly from September through June. It presents programming of interest to devotees of American Civil War history, supports preservation of Civil War battle sites, and sponsors an annual battlefield tour.
